You Aren't Superhuman!

You Can't Do It All

If you were given one superpower or wish when it comes to balancing work and life what would it be? Infinite time? Having someone take half of your responsibilities? The ability to respond to emails telepathically?

A Wealth of Knowledge: Driven to Succeed...But Why?
2012
Whatever it may be, as much as we would love to be able to do everything and please everyone it is important to remember we aren’t superhuman. It isn’t worth being too hard on yourself or stressing over things of the past or that you cannot change.

Having unreasonable expectations of yourself and situations, as well as having unreasonable time frames and schedules could have negative effects on you. Overthinking can also cause unnecessary added stress and pressure. I have noticed that people, myself included, tend to be harder on ourselves then we should be. I've  learned that we need to take more time to give ourselves credit, where credit is due.

Pintrest. Robbins, T. (n.d.)
Healthy Place, an American mental health site, recommends:

1. Letting go of the need to be perfect
2. Stop comparing yourself to other people
3. Realizing you are not superhuman
4. Understand that you’re not the same all the time
5. Let go of need for constant achievement
6. Challenge your inner critic
7. Learn to love yourself for who you are as a person
-How Not to Expect Too Much From Yourself | Building Self-Esteem. (n.d.)

We also often also worry about what the people around us will think of us. The expectations others put on us can affect our perception of ourselves if we don’t live up to them. Thing is  their expectations aren’t always realistic.

Building your self-esteem and being confident in yourself and can help you feel successful in what you're doing daily.  If you have some time, heres a great video that I've found extremely helpful on how to build your self-esteem and how it will change your life:
